A U-turn needed

By  Sharique Naeem

Inspite of the fact that Capitalist policies are being implemented in full swing, by the government, hardly any progress seems to have been made. The governments ongoing policies of selling vital assets of the nation -such as PTCL and Steel Mill- one after the other, only goes to show poor governance abilities. Also, given the recent ranking of Pakistan at 9th position, compared to 34th position as of last year, in the ranking of failed states (Ranking by Fund for Peace) is testimony to the absolute failure of the policies and the present system. After such a humiliating ranking, if the present government truly stands, for the vision of Enlightenment, that it never falls short of proclaiming, and if our rulers have any shred of self respect, than they must make one bold U-turn, i.e. by halting the ongoing implementation of policies crafted to suit only imperial designs, and revive the Islamic Caliphate. As history is witness to the fact, that as long as the Islamic Economic policies were implemented in the Caliphate, the Islamic state, rarely ever suffered from economic turmoil because of internal reasons. Infact the economic system of Islam is so dynamic, that masses prosper in it, and history shows that a number of times it so happened in the Islamic State that there were people to give Zakat, but there was no one to take Zakat; and far from being a failed state, the Muslims under Caliphate were leading the world by all measures of progress and prosperity. I am sure such a U turn will not be difficult to make, given that the present government already has adequate experience with making such turns.
