In The Name Of Allah Most
Gracious Most Merciful
Declaration of Faith/Belief
To testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.
2: 160 Except those who repent and make amends and openly declare (the truth) to them I turn; for I am Oft-Returning Most Merciful.
49:15 The (true) believers are those only who believe in Allah and His messenger and afterward doubt not, but strive with their wealth and their lives for the cause of Allah. Such are the sincere.
57:7 Believe in Allah and His messenger, and spend of that whereof He hath made you trustees; and such of you as believe and spend (aright), theirs will be a great reward.
57:28 O ye that believe! fear Allah and believe in His apostle and He will bestow on you a double portion of His Mercy: He will provide for you a light by which ye shall walk (straight in your path) and He will forgive you (your past): For Allah is Oft-Forgiving. Most Merciful:
61:11 Ye should believe in Allah and His messenger, and should strive for the cause of Allah with your wealth and your lives. That is better for you, if ye did but know.
64:8 So believe in Allah and His messenger and the light which We have revealed. And Allah is Aware of what ye do.

I. The verses which confirms-There is no God but Allah. II.The verses which confirms-Muhammad [salla lahu alihi wa sallam]is the messenger of Allah.
Confirming both and declaring .
I .The verses which confirms-There is no God but Allah.
2:163 And your Allah is one Allah; there is no god but He Most Gracious Most Merciful.
2:255 Allah! there is no Allah but He the living the Self-subsisting Eternal. No slumber can seize him nor sleep. His are all things in the heavens and on earth. Who is there can intercede in His presence except as He permitteth? He knoweth what (appeareth to his creatures as) before or after or behind them. Nor shall they compass aught of his knowledge except as He willeth. His throne doth extend over the heavens and the earth and He feeleth no fatigue in guarding and preserving them. For He is the Most High the Supreme (in glory).
3:2 Allah! there is no god but He the Living the Self-Subsisting Eternal.
3:6 He it is Who shapes you in the wombs as He pleases. There is no god but He the Exalted in Might the Wise.
4:87 Allah! there is no god but He: of a surety He will gather you together against the Day of Judgment about which there is no doubt. And whose word can be truer than Allah's?
6:102 That is Allah your Lord! there is no god but He the Creator of all things: then worship ye Him: and He hath power to dispose of all affairs.
6:106 Follow what thou art taught by inspiration from thy Lord: there is no god but He: and turn aside from those who join gods with Allah.
7:158 Say: "O men! I am sent unto you all as the apostle of Allah to Whom belongeth the dominion of the heavens and the earth: there is no god but He: it is He that giveth both life and death. So believe in Allah and His apostle the unlettered Prophet who believed in Allah and His words: follow him that (so) ye may be guided."
9:31 They take their priests and their anchorites to be their lords in derogation of Allah and (they take as their Lord) Christ the son of Mary; Yet they were commanded to worship but one Allah: there is no god but He. Praise and glory to him: (far is He) from having the parents they associate (with him).
9:129 But if they turn away Say : "Allah sufficeth me: There is not god but He: On Him is my trust - He the Lord of the Throne (Of Glory) Supreme!
11:14 "If then they (your false gods) answer not your (call) know ye that this Revelation is sent down (replete) with the knowledge of Allah and that there is no god but He! Will ye even then submit (to Islam)?"
13:30 Thus have We sent thee amongst a People before whom (long since) have (other) Peoples (gone and) passed away; in order that thou mightest rehearse unto them what We send down unto thee by inspiration; yet do they reject (Him) the Most Gracious! Say: "He is my Lord! There is no god but He! On Him is my trust and to Him do I turn!"
16:2 He doth send down His angels with inspiration of His Command to such of His servants as He pleaseth (saying): "Warn (Man) that there is no god but I: so do your duty unto Me."
20:8 Allah! there is no god but He! To Him belong the Most Beautiful Names.
20:14 "Verily I am Allah: there is no god but I: so serve thou me (only) and establish regular prayer for celebrating My praise.
20:98 But the god of you all is the One Allah: there is no god but He: all things He comprehends in His knowledge.
21:25 Not an apostle did We send before thee without this inspiration sent by Us to him: that there is no god but I; therefore worship and serve Me.
21:87 And remember Zun-nun when he departed in wrath: he imagined that We had no power over him! But he cried through the depths of darkness "There is no god but Thou: Glory to Thee: I was indeed wrong!"
23:116 Therefore exalted be Allah the King the Reality; there is no god but He the Lord of the Throne of Honor!
27:26 "Allah! there is no god but He! Lord of the Throne Supreme!"
28:70 And He is Allah: there is no god but He. To him be praise at the first and at the last: for Him is the Command and to Him shall ye (all) be brought back.
28:88 And call not besides Allah on another god. There is no god but He. Everything (that exists) will perish except His own Face. To him belongs the Command and to him will ye (all) be brought back.
35:3 O men! call to mind the grace of Allah unto you! Is there a Creator other than Allah to give you Sustenance from heaven or earth? There is no god but He: how then are ye deluded away from the Truth?
39:6 He created you (all) from a single person: then created of like nature his mate; and He sent down for you eight head of cattle in pairs: He makes you in the wombs of your mothers in stages one after another in three veils of darkness. Such is Allah your Lord and Cherisher: to Him belongs (all) dominion. There is no god but He: then how are ye turned away (from your true Center)?
40:3 Who forgiveth Sin accepteth Repentance is strict in Punishment and hath a Long Reach (in all things). There is no god but He: to Him is the Final Goal.
40:62 Such is Allah your Lord the Creator of all things there is no god but He: then how ye are deluded away from the Truth!
40:65 He is the living (One): There is no god but He: Call upon Him giving Him sincere devotion. Praise be to Allah Lord of the Worlds!
44:8 There is no god but He: it is He Who gives life and gives death the Lord and Cherisher to you and your earliest ancestors.
47:19 Know therefore that there is no god but Allah and ask forgiveness for the fault and for the men and women who believe: for Allah knows how ye move about and how ye dwell in your homes.
64:13 Allah! there is no god but He: and on Allah therefore let the Believers put their trust.
73:9 (He is) Lord of the East and the West: there is no god but He: take Him therefore for (thy) Disposer of Affairs.
II.The verses which confirms-Muhammad is the messenger of Allah
3:144 MUHAMMAD is no more than an apostle: many Were the apostle that passed away before him. If he died or were slain, will ye then Turn back on your heels? If any did turn back on his heels, not the least harm will he do to Allah. but Allah (on the other hand) will swiftly reward those who (serve Him) with gratitude.
47:2 But those who believe and work deeds of righteousness, and believe in the (Revelation) sent down to MUHAMMAD - for it is the Truth from their Lord,- He will remove from them their ills and improve their condition.
48:8 Lo! We have sent thee (O Muhammad) as a witness and a bearer of good tidings and a warner,
48:29 Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. And those with him are hard against the disbelievers and merciful among themselves. Thou (O Muhammad) seest them bowing and falling prostrate (in worship), seeking bounty from Allah and (His) acceptance. The mark of them is on their foreheads from the traces of prostration. Such is their likeness in the Torah and their likeness in the Gospel like as sown corn that sendeth forth its shoot and strengtheneth it and riseth firm upon its stalk, delighting the sowers that He may enrage the disbelievers with (the sight of) them. Allah hath promised, unto such of them as believe and do good works, forgiveness and immense reward.
4:136 O ye who believe! believe in Allah and his Apostle and the scripture which He hath sent to His Apostle and the scripture which He sent to those before (him). And who denieth Allah His angels His Books His Apostles and the Day of Judgment hath gone far far astray.
5:81 If only they had believed in Allah, in the Messenger, and in what hath been revealed to him, never would they have taken them for friends and protectors, but most of them are rebellious wrong-doers.
7:158 Say (O Muhammad): O mankind! Lo! I am the messenger of Allah to you all--(the messenger of) Him unto whombelongeth the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth. There is no God save Him. He quickeneth and He giveth death. So believe in Allah and His messenger, the Prophet who can neither read nor write, who believeth in Allah and in His words and follow him that haply ye may be led aright.
9:54 And naught preventeth that their contributions should be accepted from them save that they have disbelieved in Allah and in His messenger, and they come not to worship save as idlers, and pay not (their contribution) save reluctantly.
19:30 He said: "I am indeed a servant of Allah. He hath given me revelation and made me a prophet;
24:47 And they say: We believe in Allah and the messenger, and we obey; then after that a faction of them turn away. Such are not believers.
24:62 They only are the true believers who believe in Allah and His messenger and, when they are with him on some common errand, go not away until they have asked leave of him. Lo! those who ask leave of thee, those are they who believe in Allah and His messenger. So, if they ask thy leave for some affair of theirs, give leave to whom thou wilt of them, and ask for them forgiveness of Allah. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
33:40 Muhammad is not the father of any man among you, but he is the messenger of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets; and Allah is Aware of all things.
48:9 That ye (mankind) may believe in Allah and His messenger, and may honor Him, and may revere Him, and may glorify Him at early dawn and at the close of day.
Shahdah(Testimony) in Hadith
Sahih Muslim HadithHadith 6082 Narrated byAbuHurayrah I invited my mother, who was a polytheist, to Islam. I invited her one day and she said to me something about Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him), which I hated. I came to Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him), weeping and said: Allah's Messenger, I invited my mother to Islam but she did not accept (my invitation). I invited her today but she said to me something which I did not like. (Kindly) supplicate Allah to set the mother of AbuHurayrah on the right path. Thereupon Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: O Allah, set the mother of AbuHurayrah on the right path. I came out quite pleased with the supplication of Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him). When I came near our door it was closed from within. My mother heard the noise of my footsteps and she said: AbuHurayrah, just wait. I heard the splashing of water. She took a bath, put on her dress, quickly covered her head with a shawl opened the door and then said: AbuHurayrah, I bear witness to the fact that there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is His bondsman and His Messenger. He (AbuHurayrah) said: I went back to Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) and (this time) I was shedding the tears of joy. I said: Allah's Messenger, be happy, for Allah has responded to your supplication and He has set on the right path the mother of AbuHurayrah. He (the Holy Prophet) praised Allah, and extolled Him and uttered good words. I said: Allah's Messenger, supplicate Allah to instil my love and that of my mother too in the hearts of the believing servants and let our hearts be filled with their love. Thereupon Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: O Allah, let there be love of these servants of yours, i.e. AbuHurayrah and his mother, in the hearts of the believing servants and let their hearts be filled with the love of the believing servants. (AbuHurayrah said: This prayer) was so well granted by Allah that no believer ever born, who heard of me and who saw me, did not love me.
Al-Muwatta Hadith Hadith 38.9 Slaves Permitted to be Freed when a Slave must be Freed by Obligation Malik related to me from Ibn Shihab from Ubaydullah ibn Abdullah ibn Utba ibn Masud that one of the Ansar came to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, with a black slave-girl of his. He said, "Messenger of Allah, I must set a slave free who is a mumina. If you think that she is mumina, I will free her." The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, questioned her, "Do you testify that there is no god but Allah?" She said, "Yes." "Do you testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah?" She said, "Yes." "Are you certain about the rising after death?" She said, "Yes." The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Free her."
Sahih Muslim HadithHadith 6569 Narrated byAbdullah ibn Mas'ud When it was evening Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) used to supplicate: "We entered upon evening and the whole Kingdom of Allah also entered upon evening and praise is due to Allah. There is no god but Allah, the One Who has no partner with Him." Hasan said that Zubayd reported to him that he memorised it from Ibrahim in these very words: "His is the Sovereignty and Praise is due to Him, and He is Potent over everything. O Allah, I beg of Thee the good of this night and I seek refuge in Thee from the evil of this night and the evil which follows it. O Allah, I seek refuge in Thee from sloth, from the evil of vanity. O Allah, I seek refuge in Thee from torment in the Hell-Fire and from torment in the grave."
Sunan of Abu-DawoodHadith 2333 Narrated byAbdullah ibn Abbas A bedouin came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said: I have sighted the moon. Al-Hasan added in his version: that is, of Ramadan. He asked: Do you testify that there is no god but Allah? He replied: Yes. He again asked: Do you testify that Muhammad is the Apostle of Allah? He replied: Yes. and he testified that he had sighted the moon. He said: Bilal, announce to the people that they must fast tomorrow.
Sunan of Abu-DawoodHadith 2635 Narrated byAnas ibn Malik The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: I am commanded to fight with men till they testify that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is His servant and His Apostle, face our qiblah (direction of prayer), eat what we slaughter, and pray like us. When they do that, their life and property are unlawful for us except what is due to them. They will have the same rights as the Muslims have, and have the same responsibilities as the Muslims have.Note:The fight is against those who torcher muslims.
Sunan of Abu-DawoodHadith 4339 Narrated byAisha, Ummul Mu'minin The Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) Said: The blood of a Muslim man who testifies that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is Allah's Apostle should not lawfully be shed except only for one of three reasons: a man who committed fornication after marriage, in which case he should be stoned; one who goes forth to fight with Allah and His Apostle, in which case he should be killed or crucified or exiled from the land; or one who commits murder for which he is killed.
Sunan of Abu-DawoodHadith 5051 Narrated byAnas ibn Malik The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: If anyone says in the morning or in the evening: "O Allah! in the morning we call Thee, the bearers of Thy Throne, Thy angels and all Thy creatures to witness that thou art Allah (God) than Whom alone there is no god, and that Muhammad is Thy Servant and Apostle," Allah will emancipate his fourth from Hell; if anyone says twice, Allah will emancipate his half; if anyone says it thrice, Allah will emancipate three-fourth; and if he says four times, Allah will emancipate him from Hell.Note:This is only if Allah subhanawatala wills for he is just and does justice to all.
Sahih Muslim HadithHadith 451 Narrated byUqbah ibn Amir We were entrusted with the task of tending the camels. During my turn, when I came back in the evening after grazing them in the pastures, I found Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) standing and addressing the people. I heard these words of his: If any Muslim performs ablution well, then stands and prays two rak'ahs thinking about them with his heart as well as his face, Paradise will be guaranteed for him. I said: What a fine thing is this! And a narrator who was before me said: The first was even better than this. When I cast a glance, I saw that it was Umar who said: I see that you have just come and observed: If anyone amongst you performs the ablution, completes the ablution well and then says: I testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the servant of Allah and His Messenger, the eight gates of Paradise will be opened for him and he may enter by whichever of them he wishes.Note:If Allah subhanawatala wills.
Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 916 Narrated byJabir ibn Abdullah Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) used to teach us tashahhud as he taught us a Surah of the Qur'an, as following: `In the name of Allah and with the grace of Allah, the adorations with the tongue, acts of worship and good things are due to Allah. Peace be upon Thee, O Apostle, and Mercy of Allah and His blessings; let there be peace upon us and upon the pious servants of Allah. I testify that there is no god but Allah and I also testify that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger; I beg of Allah Paradise and seek refuge with Allah from the Hell-fire.' Transmitted by Nasa'i.
Al-Muwatta Hadith Hadith 3.56 Tashahhud in the Prayer Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Urwa ibn az-Zubayr from Abd ar-Rahman ibn Abd al-Qari that he heard Umar ibn al-Khattab say, while he was teaching people the tashahhud from the mimbar, "Say, Greetings belong to Allah. Pure actions belong to Allah. Good words and prayers belong to Allah. Peace on you, Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and on the slaves of Allah who are salihun. I testify that there is no god except Allah. And I testify that Muhammad is His slave and His messenger." 'At-tahiyatu lillah, az-zakiyatu lillah, at-tayibatu wa's-salawatu lillah. As-salamu alayka ayyuha'nnabiyyu wa rahmatu'llahi wa barakatuhu. As-salamu alayna wa ala ibadi'llahi s-salihin. Ash-hadu an la ilaha illa 'llah wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan abduhu wa rasuluh."
Sahih Muslim HadithHadith 798 Narrated byAbdullah ibn Abbas The Messenger of Allah, (peace be upon him) used to teach us tashahhud just as he used to teach us a Surah of the Qur'an, and he would say: All services rendered by words, acts of worship, and all good things are due to Allah, Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and Allah's mercy and blessings. Peace be upon us and upon Allah's upright servants. I testify that there is no god but Allah, and I testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. In the narration of Ibn Rumh (the words are): "As he would teach us the Qur'an".
Al-Muwatta Hadith Hadith 9.87 Prayer in General Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Ata ibn Yazid al-Laythi that Ubaydullah ibn Adi ibnal-Khiyar said, "Once when the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was sitting with some people, a man came to him and spoke secretly to him. Nobody knew what he had said until the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, disclosed that he had asked for permission to kill one of the hypocrites. When he disclosed this, the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, 'Doesn't he testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah?' The man replied, 'Of course, but he hasn't really done so.' He said, 'Doesn't he do the prayer?' and the man replied, 'Of course, but he doesn't really do the prayer.' He said, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, 'Those are the ones whom Allah has forbidden me (to kill).' "
Al-Muwatta Hadith Hadith 3.57 Tashahhud in the Prayer Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi that Abdullah ibn Umar used to say the tashahhud saying, "In the name of Allah. Greetings belong to Allah. Prayers belong to Allah. Pure actions belong to Allah. Peace be on the Prophet and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be on us and on the slaves of Allah who are salihun. I testify that there is no god except Allah. I testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah." "Bismillah, at-tahiyatu lillah, as-salawatu lillah, az-zakiyatu lillah. As-salamu ala'n-nabiyyi wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu. As-salamu alayna wa ala ibadi'llahi's-salihin. Shahidtu an la ilaha illallah. Shahidtu anna Muhammadu'r-rasulu'llah." He used to say this after the first two rakas and he would make supplication with whatever seemed fit to him when the tashahhud was completed. When he sat at the end of the prayer, he did the tashahhud in a similar manner, except that after the tashahhud he made supplication with whatever seemed fit to him. When he had completed the tashahhud and intended to say the taslim, he said, "Peace be on the Prophet and His mercy and blessings. Peace be upon us and on the slaves of Allah who are salihun." "As-salamu ala'n-nabiyyi wa rahmatu'llahi wa barakatuhu. As-salamu alayna wa ala ibadi'llahi'ssalihin ." He then said, "Peace be upon you" to his right, and would return the greeting to the imam, and if anyone said "Peace be upon you" from his left he would return the greeting to him.
Sunan of Abu-DawoodHadith 2993 Narrated byYazid ibn Abdullah We were at Mirbad. A man with dishevelled hair and holding a piece of red skin in his hand came. We said: You appear to be a bedouin. He said: Yes. We said: Give us this piece of skin in your hand. He then gave it to us and we read it. It contained the text: "From Muhammad, Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him), to Banu Zuhayr ibn Uqaysh. If you bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is the Apostle of Allah, offer prayer, pay zakat, pay the fifth from the booty, and the portion of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and his special portion (safi), you will be under by the protection of Allah and His Apostle." We then asked: Who wrote this document for you? He replied: The Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him).
Sahih Muslim HadithHadith 45 Narrated byUbadah ibn as-Samit
As-Sunabihi said, "I entered on Ubadah when he was about to die. I burst into tears. Upon this he said to me: Allow me some time (so that I may talk with you). Why do you weep? if I am asked to bear witness, I would certainly testify for you (that you are a believer). Should I be asked to intercede, I would certainly intercede for you, and if I have the power, I would certainly do good to you, and then observed: By Allah, never did I hear anything from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) which could have been a source of benefit to you and then not conveyed it to your except this single hadith. That I intend to narrate to you today, since I am going to breathe my last. I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: He who testifies that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah, Allah prohibit the fire of Hell for him.Note:if Allah subhanawatala wills, for with shahdah one has to follow all good deeds as well,Islam is believing and following.
Al-Muwatta Hadith Hadith 3.58 Tashahhud in the Prayer Yahya related to me from Malik from Abd ar-Rahman ibn al-Qasim from his father that A'isha, the wife of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, used to say in the tashahhud, "Greetings, good words, prayers, pure actions belong to Allah. I testify that there is no god except Allah, alone without partner, and that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger. Peace be on you, Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be on us and on the slaves of Allah who are salihun. Peace be upon you." "At-tahiyatu, at-tayibatu, as-salawatu, az-zakiyatu lillah. Ash-hadu an la ilaha illa'llah, wahdahu la sharika lah wa anna Muhammadan abduhu wa rasuluhu. As-salamu alayka ayyuha-n-nabiyyu wa rahmatu-llahi wa barakatuhu. As-salamu alayna wa ala ibadi-llahi's-salihin. As-salamu alaykum."
Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 104 Narrated byAli ibn AbuTalib Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: No servant will be a believer (in the true sense of the term) till he affirms his faith in four things: 1. He bears witness to the fact that there is no god but Allah. 2. I am His Messenger whom He has sent with Truth. 3. He affirms his faith in death and in the life after death. 4. He affirms his faith in the Divine Decree. Transmitted by Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah.
Sahih Muslim HadithHadith 41 Narrated byAbuHurayrah We were accompanying the Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) in a march (towards Tabuk). He (the narrator) said: The provisions of the people were almost depleted. He (the narrator) said: (And the situation became so critical) that they (the men of the army) decided to slaughter some of their camels. He (the narrator) said: Upon this Umar said: Messenger of Allah, I wish you to pool what has been left from the provisions of the people and then invoke (the blessings of) Allah upon it. He (the narrator) said: He (the Holy Prophet) did it accordingly. He (the narrator) said: The one who had wheat in his possession brought wheat. He who had dates with him brought dates. And Mujahid said: He who possessed date-stone brought date-stones. I (the narrator) said: What did they do with the date-stones? They said: They (the people) sucked them and then drank water over them. He (the narrator said): He (the Holy Prophet) invoked the blessings (of Allah) upon them (the provisions). He (the narrator) said: (And there was such a miraculous increase in the supplies) that the people replenished their provisions fully. He (the narrator) said: At that time he (the Holy Prophet) said: I bear testimony to the fact that there is no god but Allah, and I am His messenger. The bondsman who meets Allah without entertaining any doubt about these (two fundamentals) will enter heaven.
Sahih Muslim HadithHadith 749 Narrated bySa'd ibn AbuWaqqas
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: If anyone says on hearing the Mu'adhdhin: I testify that there is no god but Allah alone, Who has not partner, and that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger, (and that) I am satisfied with Allah as my Lord, with Muhammad as Messenger, and with Islam as din (code of life), his sins would be forgiven. In the narration transmitted by Ibn Rumh the words are: He who said on hearing the Mu'adhdhin 'and verify I testify.'" Qutaybah has not mentioned his words: " And I."
Sunan of Abu-DawoodHadith 5060 Narrated byAnas ibn Malik The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: If anyone says in the morning: "O Allah! in the morning we call Thee, the bearers of Thy Throne, Thy angels, and all Thy creatures to witness that Thou art Allah than Whom there is no god, Thou being alone and without a partner, and that Muhammad is Thy servant and Thy Apostle," Allah will forgive him any sins that he commits that day; and if he repeats them in the evening. Allah will forgive him any sins he commits that night.
Sahih Muslim HadithHadith 1 Narrated byAbdullah ibn Umar ibn al-Khattab It is narrated on the authority of Yahya ibn Ya'mar that the first man who discussed Qadr (Divine Decree) in Basrah was Ma'bad al-Juhani. Humayd ibn AbdurRahman al-Himyari and I set out for Pilgrimage or for Umrah and said: Should it so happen that we come into contact with one of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) we shall ask him about what is talked about Taqdir (Division Decree). Accidentally we came across Abdullah ibn Umar ibn al-Khattab, while he was entering the mosque. My companion and I surrounded him. One of us (stood) on his right and the other stood on his left. I expected that my companion would authorize me to speak. I therefore said: AbuAbdurRahman! There have appeared some people in our land who recite the Holy Qur'an and pursue knowledge. And then after talking about their affairs, added: They (such people) claim that there is no such thing as Divine Decree and events are not predestined. He (Abdullah ibn Umar) said: When you happen to meet such people tell them that I have nothing to do with them and they have nothing to do with me. And verily they are in no way responsible for my (belief). Abdullah ibn Umar swore by Him (the Lord) (and said): If any one of them (who does not believe in the Divine Decree) had with him gold equal to the bulk of (the mountain) Uhud and then, it (in the way of Allah), Allah would not accept it unless he affirmed his faith in Divine Decree. He further said: My father, Umar ibn al-Khattab, told me: One day we were sitting in the company of Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) when there appeared before us a man dressed in pure white clothes, his hair extraordinarily black. There were no signs of travel on him. None amongst us recognized him. At last he sat with the Apostle (peace be upon him) He knelt before him placed his palms on his thighs and said: Muhammad, inform me about al-Islam. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: Al-Islam implies that you testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah, and you establish prayer, pay Zakat, observe the fast of Ramadan, and perform pilgrimage to the (House) if you are solvent enough (to bear the expense of) the journey. He (the inquirer) said: You have told the truth. He (Umar ibn al-Khattab) said: It amazed us that he would put the question and then he would himself verify the truth. He (the inquirer) said: Inform me about Iman (faith). He (the Holy Prophet) replied: That you affirm your faith in Allah, in His angels, in His Books, in His Apostles, in the Day of Judgment, and you affirm your faith in the Divine Decree about good and evil. He (the inquirer) said: You have told the truth. He (the inquirer) again said: Inform me about al-Ihsan (performance of good deeds). He (the Holy Prophet) said: That you worship Allah as if you are seeing Him, for though you don't see Him, He, verily, sees you. He (the enquirer) again said: Inform me about the hour (of the Doom). He (the Holy Prophet) remarked: One who is asked knows no more than the one who is inquiring (about it). He (the inquirer) said: Tell me some of its indications. He (the Holy Prophet) said: That the slave-girl will give birth to her mistress and master, that you will find barefooted, destitute goat-herds vying with one another in the construction of magnificent buildings. He (the narrator, Umar ibn al-Khattab) said: Then he (the inquirer) went on his way but I stayed with him (the Holy Prophet) for a long while. He then, said to me: Umar, do you know who this inquirer was? I replied: Allah and His Apostle knows best. He (the Holy Prophet) remarked: He was Gabriel (the angel). He came to you in order to instruct you in matters of religion.
Sahih Muslim HadithHadith 1888 Narrated byAbdullah ibn Abbas Dimad came to Mecca. He belonged to the tribe of Azd Shanu'ah, and he used to protect anyone who was under the influence of a charm. He heard the foolish people of Mecca say that Muhammad (peace be upon him) was under the spell. Upon this he said: If I were to come across this man, Allah might cure him at my hand. He met him and said: Muhammad, I can protect (one) who is under the influence of a charm, and Allah cures one whom He so desires at my hand. Do you desire (this)? Upon this the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: Praise is due to Allah, we praise Him and ask His help. He whom Allah guides aright, there is none to lead him astray, and he who is led astray, there is none to guide him. I bear testimony to the fact that there is no god but Allah, He is One, having no partner with Him, and that Muhammad is His Servant and Messenger. Now after this he (Dimad) said: Repeat these words of yours before me, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) repeated them to him thrice. He said: I have heard the words of soothsayers, the words of magicians, and the words of poets, but I have never heard such words as yours: they reach the depth (of the ocean of eloquence). Give me your hand so that I may take the oath of fealty to you in Islam. So he took an oath of allegiance to him. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: It (this allegiance of yours) is on behalf of your people too. He said: It is on behalf of my people too. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) sent an expedition and the flying column passed by his people. The leader of the flying column said to the detachment: Did you find anything from these people? One of the people said: I found a utensil for water. Upon this he (the commander) said: Return it, for he is one of the people of Dimad.
Sahih Muslim HadithHadith 220 Narrated byAmr ibn al-'As Ibn Shamasah said: We went to Amr ibn al-'As and he was about to die. He wept for a long time and turned his face towards the wall. His son said: Did the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) not give you tidings of this? Did the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) not give you tidings of this? He (the narrator) said: He turned his face (towards the audience) and said: The best thing which we can count upon is the testimony that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Apostle of Allah. Verily I have passed through three phases. (The first was one) in which I found myself averse to none else more than I was averse to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and there was no other desire stronger in me than the one that I should overpower him and kill him. Had I died in this state, I should have been definitely one of the denizens of Fire. When Allah instilled the love of Islam in my heart, I came to the Apostle (peace be upon him) and said: Stretch out your right hand so that I may pledge my allegiance to you. He stretched out his right hand. I withdrew my hand. He (the Holy Prophet) said: What has happened to you, O' Amr? I replied: I intend to lay down a condition. He asked: What condition do you intend to put forward? I said: I should be granted pardon. He (the Holy Prophet) observed: Are you not aware of the fact that Islam wipes out all the previous (misdeeds)? Verily migration wipes out all the previous (misdeeds) and verily the pilgrimage wipes out all the (previous) misdeeds. After that no one was more dear to me than the Messenger of Allah and none was more sublime in my eyes than he. Never could I pluck up courage to catch a full glimpse of his face due to its splendour. So if I am asked to describe his features, I cannot do that for I have not eyed him fully. Had I died in this state I had every reason to hope that I should have been among the dwellers of Paradise. Then we were responsible for certain things (in the light of which) I am unable to know what is in store for me. When I die, let neither female mourner nor fire accompany me. When you bury me, fill my grave well with earth, then stand around it for a time which a camel is slaughtered and its meat is distributed so that I may enjoy your intimacy and (in your company) ascertain what answer I can give to the messengers (angels) of Allah.
Sunan of Abu-DawoodHadith 831 Narrated byAbdullah ibn AbuAwfa A man came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said: I cannot memorise anything from the Qur'an: so teach me something which is sufficient for me. He said: Say Glory be to Allah, and praise be to Allah, and there is no god but Allah, and Allah is most great, and there is no might and no strength but in Allah. :He said: Apostle of Allah, this is for Allah, but what is for me? He said: Say: O Allah have mercy on me, and sustain me, and keep me well, and guide me. When he stood up, he made a sign with his hand (indicating that he had earned a lot). The Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) said: He filed up his hand with virtues.
Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 130 Narrated byAbuHurayrah Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: When the dead body (of a Muslim) is buried in the grave there appear before him two Angels, both having black faces and blue eyes. One is called Munkar and the other is called Nakir and they say: Say what you have to say about this person and he will say: He is the servant of Allah and His Messenger. I bear testimony to the fact that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is His Messenger and they both will say: We already knew that you would say this. Then his grave will be expanded to the extent of 4900 square cubic feet and it will be illuminated, then it will be said to him: Go to sleep and he will say: I intend to go to my family in order to inform them and they would say: Go to sleep like the sleep of a newly wedded bride whom no one awakens but one who is dearest to her amongst his family members. Only Allah would resurrect him from his resting place. If he (the dead) were a hypocrite he will say: I heard people making a statement (pertaining to the oneness of Allah and the apostlehood of Muhammad) and I said the same but I do not know. And they would say: We already knew that you would say this and the earth will be told to press him and it will press him till his ribs are clasped together and he will not be relieved of the torment till Allah resurrects him from his resting-place. Transmitted by Tirmidhi.
Sahih Muslim HadithHadith 6513 Narrated bySa'd A desert Arab came to Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) and said to him: Teach me the words which I should (often) utter. He said: "There is no god but Allah, the One, having no partner with Him. Allah is the Greatest of the great and all praise is due to Him. Hallowed be Allah, the Lord of the worlds, there is no Might and Power but that of Allah, the All-Powerful and the Wise." He (the desert Arab) said: These all (glorify) my Lord. But what about me? Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: You should say: "O Allah, grant me pardon, have mercy upon me, direct me to righteousness and provide me with sustenance." Musa (one of the narrators) said: I think he also said: "Grant me safety." But I cannot say for certain whether he said this or not. Ibn AbuShaybah has not mentioned words of Musa in his narration.
Sahih Muslim HadithHadith 32 Narrated byJabir ibn Abdullah Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) said: I have been commanded that I should fight against people till they declare that there is no god but Allah, and when they profess it that there is no god but Allah, their blood and riches are guaranteed protection on my behalf except where it is justified by law, and their affairs rest with Allah, and then he (the Prophet) recited (this verse of the Qur'an): 'Thou art not over them a warden: 56(1xxxviii.22).Note:there were hypocrites who used to believe in morniung and disbelieve in evening to cause mischief among muslims.3:72
Sahih Muslim HadithHadith 800 Narrated byAbuMusa al-Ash'ari When AbuMusa was (praying and was) in the qa'dah, one of the people said: The prayer has been made obligatory together with piety and Zakat. He (the narrator) said: When AbuMusa had finished the prayer after salutation he turned (towards the people) and said: Who amongst you said such and such a thing? A hush fell on the people. He again said: Who amongst you has said such and such a thing? A hush fell on the people. He (AbuMusa) said: Hattan, it is perhaps you that have uttered it. He (Hattan) said: No, I have not uttered it. I was afraid that you might be annoyed with me on account of this. Someone amongst the people said: It was I who said it, and in this I intended nothing but good. AbuMusa said: Don't you know what you have to recite in your prayers? Verily the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) addressed us and explained to us all its aspects and taught us how to observe prayer (properly). He (the Holy Prophet) said: When you pray make your row straight and one of you should act as your Imam. Recite the takbir when he recites it and when he recites: Not of those with whom Thou art angry, nor of those who go astray, say: Amin. Allah will respond to you. And when he (the Imam) recites the takbir, you may also recite the takbir, for the Imam bows before you and raises himself before you. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: The one is equivalent to the other. When he says: Allah listens to him who praises Him, you should say: O Allah, our Lord, to Thee be the praise, for Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, has vouchsafed (us) through the tongue of His Apostle (peace be upon him) that Allah hears him who praises Him. When he (the Imam) recites the takbir and prostrates, you should also recite the takbir and prostrate, for the Imam prostrates before you and raises himself before you. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: The one is equivalent to the other. When he (the Imam) sits for Qa'dah (for tashahhud) the first words of every one amongst you should be: All services rendered by words, acts of worship and all good things are due to Allah. Peace be upon you, O Apostle, and Allah's mercy and blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the upright servants of Allah. I testify that there is no god but Allah, and I testify that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger.
Sahih Muslim HadithHadith 42 Narrated byAbuHurayrah or AbuSa'id al-Khudri (The narrator A'mash has narrated this hadith with a little doubt (about the name of the very first narrator who was in direct contact with the Holy Prophet. He was either AbuHurayrah or AbuSa'id al-Khudri. Both are equally reliable transmitters of the traditions). He (the narrator) said: During the time of the Tabuk expedition, the (provisions) ran short and the men (of the army) suffered from starvation. They said: Messenger of Allah, will you permit us to slay our camels? We shall eat them and use their fat. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: Do as you please. He (the narrator) said: Then Umar came there and said: Messenger of Allah, if you do that (if you give your consent and the men begin to slay their camels), we shall be short of riding-animals. But (I should suggest that you) summon them to bring their remaining provisions. Then invoke Allah's blessings on them (different items of the provisions). It is hoped Allah will bless them. The Messenger of Allah replied in the affirmative. He (the narrator) said: He called for a leather mat to be used as a table-cloth and spread it out. Then he called the people to bring the remaining portions of their provisions. He (the narrator said: Someone was coming with a handful of mote, another was coming with a handful of dates, still another was coming with a portion of bread, until small quantities of these things were collected on the table cloth. He (the narrator said): Then the Messenger of Allah, invoked blessing (on them) and said: Fill your utensils with these provisions. He (the narrator) said: They filled their vessels to the brim with them, and no one amongst the army (which comprised 30,000 people) was left even with a single empty vessel. He (the narrator) said: They ate their fill, and there was still a surplus. Upon this the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) remarked: I bear testimony that there is no god but Allah and I am the Messenger of Allah. The man who meets his Lord without harbouring any doubt about these two (truths) will never be kept away from Paradise.
Al-Muwatta Hadith Hadith 16.17 What to Say in the Prayer for the Dead Yahya related to me from Malik from Said ibn Abi Said al-Maqburi from his father that he had asked Abu Hurayra, "How do you pray over the dead?" and Abu Hurayra replied, "By the Life of Allah, I will tell you! I follow with the family and when the corpse is put down I say 'Allah is greater' and praise Allah and ask for blessings on His Prophet. Then I say, 'O Allah, he is Your slave and the son of Your male slave and Your female slave. He used to testify that there is no god but You and that Muhammad is Your slave and Your Messenger, and You know that best. O Allah, if he acted well, then increase for him his good action, and if he acted wrongly, then overlook his wrong actions. O Allah, do not deprive us of his reward, and do not try us after him.'" Allahumma inna huwa abduka wa'bnu abdika wa'bnu amatika. Kana yash-hadu an la ilaha illa ant wa anna Muhammadan abduka wa rasooluka, wa anta alamu bihi. Allahumma in kana muhsinan zid fi ihsanihi, wa in kana musiyan fa tajawaz an sayatihi. Allahumma la tahrimna ajrahu wa lataftina badahu.
Sunan of Abu-DawoodHadith 2113 Narrated byAbdullah ibn Mas'ud The Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) taught us the address in case of some need: Praise be to Allah from Whom we ask help and pardon, and in Whom we take refuge from the evils within ourselves. He whom Allah guides has no one who can lead him astray, and he whom He leads astray has no one to guide him. I testify that there is no god but Allah, and I testify that Muhammad is His servant and Apostle. "You who believe,...fear Allah by Whom you ask your mutual rights, and reverence the wombs. Allah has been watching you." ..."you who believe, fear Allah as He should be feared, and die only as Muslims" ...."you who believe, fear Allah as He should be feared, and die only as Muslims"....."you who believe, fear Allah and say what is true. He will make your deeds sound, and forgive your sins. He who obeys Allah and His Apostle has achieved a mighty success." The narrator, Muhammad ibn Sulayman, did mention the word "inna" (verily).
Allah Knows Best
