O' despised people!

1400 years ago, under the rule of Khilafat, lived a pious leader, Caliph Umar al-Khattab. While addressing his soldiers after the conquest of Jerusalem in 637 CE he said: "O Arabs! You were a despised people in the world. It is Islam that has given you dignity, prestige and unity. Remember whenever you would think of acquiring honour in the name of any other ideology, Allah will bring disgrace and shame on you". Although, 1368 years have passed, since he made that statement, it holds true, even today.

The Muslims today, have lost their dignity, prestige, and unity, of which they were once the torchbearers. And the reason for our current disgrace and shame, is none other, than what Hazrat Umar pointed out.

We think of acquiring honour in the name of other ideologies- Capitalism, Secularism, Democracy and nationalism etc. The cure, is plain and simple. It is Islam that gave us dignity, prestige and unity before, and without an iota of doubt, it is Islam that can liberate us again and return the Ummah to its deserving seat of dignity under Khilafat.
