Obstinate attitude

By  Sharique Naeem

The US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice stands out when it comes to an obstinate attitude. A review of her statements, combined with the status she enjoys in the US administration, shows without an iota of doubt the satanic inclination of the warmongering, belligerent and aggressive US administration. Condoleezza once described the butcher of Uzbekistan, Karimov, as an “important ally” and she has repeatedly dismissed calls for an investigation into the imprisonment without charge or trial for the hundreds held at Guantanamo Bay. After the scandal of Abu Ghraib was made public, Rice refused to describe the sickening treatment of prisoners as ‘torture’, but conceded that “bad things happened at Abu Ghraib” – surely the greatest understatement ever made. Moreover Rice has continually insisted that the US does not torture, whilst admitting to secret CIA prisons in Eastern Europe. On the recent revelations of ‘extraordinary rendition’, whereby individuals have been kidnapped and taken to other countries for interrogation, Rice stated that “sometimes you have to take people off the streets.” And when it comes to commenting on her critics, Rice thinks they are all ‘absurd’. To add insult to injury, when such a ruthless person visits the UK and is met with a large number of protests, ‘Her’ reaction to them, when asked, was to say that the protestors proved her point that democracy means freedom of speech, and that this is what they were aiming to bring in Iraq. Seeing such people in the ruling factions of democratic capitalist nations, it doesn’t take much to realize the true face of democracy. The Muslims must therefore quit their vain pursuit of democracy.
