Bismillah-Hir-Rahmaan-Nir-RaheemIraq attack anniversaryBy Sharique Naeem March 20 was the third anniversary of the attack on Iraq. This day truly marks much more than just a war. March 20 is the day when democracy failed. Millions had opposed the war on the streets of UK as well as other parts of the world, yet their rulers, driven by greed for oil, sidelined popular opinion. This day, the true face of capitalist nations was unveiled. Their pursuit of black gold eclipsed the dignity of human lives. This day, the very nations who boast of international leadership, violated all international laws. There wasn’t a single resolution of war against Iraq, but that didn’t matter. Lies and deception were once again used this day to unleash a trauma of ‘shock and awe’ on innocent civilians in Iraq. In the name of freedom, once again, millions were massacred, and millions continue to edge towards the same fate. In such circumstances, the Muslim world must no longer sit silent. It is high time for the Muslim world to unify its resources and strength and revive the brilliant traditions of acquiring knowledge and setting up systems of social justice.
