Humiliating behaviour

  By  Sharique Naeem

From the reports of the rape of sisters in Abu Ghraib, to the heartbreaking footage of innocent Muslims in US custody being humiliated beyond imagination, with each passing day, more and more atrocities are committed against Muslims and make headlines around the world. As each atrocity comes into the limelight, emotions are stirred, and people begin to raise their voices. Protests and demonstrations are held, petitions are signed, and many governments join the bandwagon to condemn these atrocities. The recent publication of blasphemous caricatures, being yet another sequel, has given the Muslim world another emotional jolt. Again, we see the Muslim world roaring in anger, with some protests turning violent, torching embassies and burning flags. Death threats are being made, and a general call for boycott of products is being hailed. Such steps are primarily focused on achieving short term objectives, such as an ‘official apologia’; however these steps fail to provide a comprehensive solution to the innumerable problems faced by the Muslim world.
