In the name of Allah
most gracious most merciful By Sharique Naeem On Friday, 13th January, some people had gathered for a dinner in a house in the village of Damadola in North of Pakistan. It was third day of Eid. Muslims the world over were celebrating Eid ul Adha, the biggest Muslim festival. However, little did they knew that on the day when the fellow countrymen sacrificed goats and sheep to commemorate the great act of Prophet Abraham (pbuh). These people were to become the goats to resemble the ‘only son’ to be sacrificed, in a cowardly attack, in the name of ‘war on terror’, on the orders of 21st Century Pharaohs. So far, the authorities concerned have only alleged that “terrorists” were present there. But what has been confirmed, is the death of innocent civilians including women and children. On the other hand our Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has more once reaffirmed his commitment to the war on terror in spite of the fact, that the US administration had issued no apologies. Adding insult to injury, Whitehouse spokesman Scott McClellan said, “Al-Qaeda continues to seek to do harm to the American people. There are people who we continue to pursue and we will bring them to justice. The American people expect us to do so and that’s what this president is committed to doing.” The implied meaning of this statement is clear that the lives of Americans are more important to the US government than the lives of defenseless villagers in Pakistan. It is hard to see how those villagers could coordinate attacks on the US from their mountain village with nothing more than a herd of goats and a few sticks. Pakistan must reconsider its relationship with the USA. Surely, a country that cares so little for the lives of Muslims and Pakistanis; is not worth helping. One of the most fundamental roles of any ruler is the safety and security of their people. It is this very principle that the Americans use to defend their actions. How can the Pakistani administration maintain a friendship or an alliance with a country that threatens the safety of Pakistani civilians?
