Bismillah-Hir-Rahmaan-Nir-Raheem In the same boat By Sharique Naeem
The signing of the Charter, in UK, by the two former PMs, leave ones mind, compounded with innumerable questions. Both the political parties of the respective signatories, in the past, have succeeded each other in office. But was there any significant difference, in their long term policy? They both implemented a flawed system, which the Colonialists had left behind. The Economic system, had remained poisoned with Riba(interest), the capitalist approach continued to cripple the backs of many amongst the poor masses and the exploitative policies drafted by the IMF and World Bank were implemented in full swing. The Foreign policy too was more or less the same, since it came from the same foreign source, and was never based on the Islamic guidelines of Jihad and Dawa’. Moreover, the education system remained stagnant and was not even remotely aimed at creating Islamic Personalities out of the pearls of this nation, i.e. the youth. The social fabric of society, too had been subject to the onslaught of western values, as it is today, and the Judiciary continued to remain doomed. Now, if all had remained the same, under both Dictatorship and Democracy, than what is all this fuss about? This charter is no more than choosing the lesser of the two evils, and goes to show the never ending lust for power of our rulers. By signing the charter, do these former PMs vow to show the nation, that they are more sincere than present dictator towards implementation of exploitative capitalist system?
